Navigating the journey home

Transporting the Draken Harald Hårfagre was no ordinary task. This extraordinary vessel, an ambassador for ocean science and innovation, required the expertise, experience, and dedication of Sevenstar’s skilled engineers. The ship was meticulously loaded onto the MV Stadiongracht just outside Newport, Rhode Island, ensuring its safe journey back to Stavanger, Norway.

The process involved precise calculations, custom cradle construction, and constant monitoring, showcasing the high level of expertise that Sevenstar Yacht Transport is known for.

A legacy of exploration and education

Built with historical craftsmanship using oak, tar, hemp, iron, and silk, the Draken Harald Hårfagre measures 114 feet in length and displaces 80 tons. Launched in 2012, this majestic vessel has served as a floating classroom, inspiring and educating thousands about the oceans and Viking heritage.

A farewell and a new beginning

After more than seven years of impactful cultural and educational exchanges in US waters, the Draken Harald Hårfagre is set to return to Norway. This return marks the beginning of a new chapter for the historic vessel. In Norway, the Draken will undergo preparations for future expeditions aimed at continuing its mission of global exploration and education. The plans include expanding educational programs and furthering the ship’s role as a floating ambassador for ocean science and innovation.
